Arts, crafts and lots of learning!

We have had an action-packed 3 weeks back after the summer! We have begun our topic looking at The Georgians – doing our own online research and creating posters. In Maths we have sailed through our place value revision and are currently pushing ourselves to learn how to do long division as well as long multiplication! In English we are looking at descriptive writing and are using our action packed novel, Kensuke’s Kingdom, to help inspire our writing.

In Art we have looked at two very different artists and have created some stormy pictures to accompany our creative writing.

Arlo, Nenad and William creating their Stormy paintings!

In Science we have been looking at our bodies, specifically our heart and circulatory system. On Monday this week we created our very own clay models of our hearts!

The final year begins!

Hello and welcome to year 6! The final year for our Eagles and the first year at Welton for me!

I am very excited to get to know all of our Eagles really well over the next exciting year as they transition, ready for secondary school. I will be keeping this blog up to date with photographs and notices but for now there are just a few housekeeping notices to keep you up to date.

  • Meet the teacher is happening on Wednesday the 11th of September at 3.20pm in the classroom.
  • Swimming is on Thursdays this term. This begins on Thursday the 12th of September
  • Please insure that you hear your child read at least 3 times a week. This is especially important in year 6. Please encourage them to explain what they have read back to you to aid comprehension.
  • Homework is due in on a Thursday – there are house points available for early submission!
  • Spellings are tested every Friday
  • PE is on a Tuesday this term.

More exciting posts to follow,
